Types and Anti-Types

As we read the biblical story we encounter numerous types. Some are identified as such within the text itself while others can be identified by looking at complete biblical record.

For example, in Hebrews 11 we read about Abraham offering Isaac as a sacrifice and the author informs us that, "He iAbraham] considered that God is able to raise men even from the dead; from which he also received him back as a type." From this we understand that what Abraham did prefigured what God would do at Calvary.

At other times, we have to wait for events to play out and then, with 20/20 hindsight we can see that what God was doing in the natural realm sometimes prefigures what He would do in the spiritual realm.  There are numerous examples but in the articles which follow, we will look at those which speak to coming of Christ to judge the old covenant world and establish His kingdom.
